More control and traceability: technology at the heart of Clever’s new logistics

Bringing Clever’s logistics in-house was not just about rethinking spaces, flows and storage systems. To manage an increasingly complex operation internally, we also needed to build a digital infrastructure capable of governing processes, increasing visibility over materials and ensuring precise control of every movement.
With this goal in mind, alongside the construction of the new in-house warehouse, Clever launched a project with Gescad focused on evolving its information systems and implementing a new Warehouse Management System (WMS).
A WMS integrated with the management system
The chosen solution is eSolver Quadrivium WMS, integrated with the eSOLVER ERP already used by Clever.
Native integration between the two systems enables a direct exchange of information and allows the various warehouse activities to be coordinated in a structured way, from goods receipt to shipment preparation.
The system has also been integrated with the two automated vertical storage systems in the new logistics hub, linking digital stock management with the physical operations of storage and picking.
Traceability and precise material management
One of the key aspects of the project is supply traceability.
The new system makes it possible to manage individual lots and FIFO logic precisely, keeping material movements under control throughout the logistics process.
For Clever, which distributes components to many highly specialised industrial sectors, being able to trace supply information accurately is essential to ensure control, reliability and the ability to act quickly when needed or in the event of non-conformities.
More guided, integrated processes
Digitalisation has also changed operators’ day-to-day activities.
Storage and picking procedures are supported by the WMS through guided flows integrated with the automated warehouse systems. This makes it possible to organise movements in a more structured way, reduce the risk of errors and handle orders more efficiently.
The system has also been configured around Clever’s specific operational needs, including the management of shipping priorities and integration with the carriers used for different types of delivery.
An IT infrastructure ready for future growth
The introduction of the new WMS went hand in hand with an upgrade of the IT infrastructure, needed to support an increasingly interconnected warehouse and to create a technology foundation that can scale over time.
Before go-live, the various flows were configured and tested in a dedicated test environment, allowing the switch to the new system while maintaining business continuity.
The result is an infrastructure in which management software, WMS, automated systems and logistics processes work together, providing more accurate information on warehouse operations.
Technology as part of the service
For Clever, investing in logistics also means investing in the quality of service offered to customers.
The combination of an in-house warehouse, automation, traceability and digital flow management now gives us greater control over the entire logistics process and lays the groundwork to support growing volumes and increasing operational complexity.
The project pairs the warehouse’s new physical infrastructure with an equally important digital component, turning data, systems and processes into concrete tools to support Clever’s future growth.
The WMS implementation and IT infrastructure project was developed together with Gescad, which describes the solutions adopted and the different phases of the work in its own case study.
