At Clever, logistics is an integral part of the service we offer our customers. Product availability, stock control, fast order handling and continuity of supply all depend on the ability to manage logistics flows efficiently and in a structured way.

As the company has grown and operational needs have evolved, Clever chose to take an important step: bringing all logistics management back in-house and redesigning its organisation, processes and tools.

A strategic project, developed together with Opta, which led to the creation of a new logistics system at the Cadriano site, designed to meet current needs and support the company’s future development.

A new in-house warehouse of around 5,000 m²

Clever’s new warehouse covers a total area of around 5,000 m² and brings together the different stages of the logistics flow: goods receipt, storage, picking and shipping.

The design work covered not only the spaces but the entire operating model, with the aim of creating a system that is more controlled, efficient and scalable.

The warehouse offers thousands of pallet positions and combines traditional storage systems with two Modula automated vertical lift modules, dedicated in particular to small, fast-moving items.

A configuration designed to optimise space, make picking easier and improve the management of a broad and diverse catalogue of components.

More control over processes and stock

Bringing logistics in-house gives Clever more direct control over flows and material management.

Alongside the physical design of the warehouse, the operating processes and the functional requirements of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) were redefined, creating closer integration between organisation, goods handling and information management.

The result is a structure that provides greater visibility over stock and logistics processes, supporting more organised management of day-to-day activities and customer needs.

Logistics designed to grow with us

The new system was not sized for current needs alone.

Space, storage capacity, automation and processes were all designed with growth in mind, so that logistics can keep supporting Clever’s evolution and the expansion of its activities over time.

For a specialised distributor of electronic components, investing in logistics means investing directly in the quality and reliability of the service: greater internal control, material availability and a structure able to handle growing volumes and complexity efficiently.

From design to full operation

The redesign was carried out together with Opta, from defining the new logistics model through to operational start-up.

The project, launched in 2025, covered flow analysis, layout definition, the choice of storage and handling systems, WMS requirements and, finally, the transfer of stock and the ramp-up of the new warehouse.

A complex journey completed in a short time, turning a strategic decision into a new infrastructure that is now fully integrated into Clever’s operations.

A concrete investment to build logistics that are more controlled, more scalable and closer to our customers’ needs.

Clever’s project has also been described by Opta in a case study dedicated to the redesign and insourcing of our logistics system.
